Your Home, Your Power: How Central Coast Solar Works

The Central Coast gets 280 days of measurable sunshine per year — a number that places it in the top 5% of US markets for residential solar ROI. Despite that, only 14% of homes in SLO County have solar installations, compared to 23% in San Diego and 19% in the Inland Empire.

Central Coast Solar, a locally owned installer based in Atascadero, has been closing that gap since 2019. "People assume solar is expensive because it used to be," says founder Miguel Torres. "In 2026, a typical 8kW system for a 2,000-square-foot home costs $18,000 before the federal tax credit — which brings it to about $12,600 out of pocket. Most of our customers break even in under five years."
